What I’ve Been Working On All Spring
Hey Reader,
No email last Sunday — Fourth of July, and I decided to put work down and just be with the family for the weekend. Back to normal now, sent every Sunday morning.
A few weeks ago I told you big changes were coming to Homegrown Hosting. This is that email.
When I started building websites for farms, I priced it the way everyone told me to — $499 to get started, $149 a month. And some farms said yes — usually farms with a few years behind them, some savings built up, room to invest.
But I kept having the same conversation over and over with a different kind of farm. Brand new. Just getting the operation off the ground. Selling at the farmers market, taking orders through Facebook messages, exactly the kind of farm I make videos for. We’d talk, they’d love the idea… and then the numbers didn’t work. Not because they didn’t want a website. Because $499 up front is real money when you’re still finding your footing and reinvesting everything back into the farm.
I was building a service for small farms, but I’d priced it for established ones. As a farmer myself, that bothered me.
So over the past few months, I rebuilt the whole thing from the ground up. I standardized everything — one website structure, one onboarding process, one way of doing things. No custom quotes, no packages to compare, no tiers to pick between. When every farm gets the same proven system, I don’t have to charge custom-design prices.
Here’s what that means for you:
The new Homegrown Hosting is $199 to get started and $99 a month.
That includes the whole thing — your website, your online store, hosting, security, backups, a professional email address, the legal pages nobody thinks about until they need them. Built by me, personally. There’s a 12-month commitment, then it’s month-to-month and cancel anytime after that.
Getting your content ready is easy — a simple guided wizard walks you through exactly what to write for every page, with examples for each section so you’re never staring at a blank box wondering what to say. Since it’s coming straight from you, your site sounds like your farm, not a template.
I handle every technical piece — the setup, the building, the security, all of it — so you’re never wrestling with code or fighting with tech. You’ll manage your own orders and inventory through a simple dashboard.
If you’re still taking orders through Facebook messages and texts, keeping track in your head or on paper, and you’ve known for a while you need a real website — this is for you.
And honestly? If your farm is doing fine without one, or you enjoy managing your own site, you don’t need this. I’d rather you skip it than sign up for something that isn’t a fit.
If it sounds like it might be a fit, everything — what’s included, how it works, and the questionnaire to get started — is right here:
Until next week…
with my appreciation,
Jason
