Hey there,
Most farmers don’t want to become marketers. They just want customers to “get it”. To understand what they do, why it matters, and how to buy.
But here’s the hard truth: If your farm’s message isn’t clear, most people won’t stick around to figure it out. Especially online.
That’s where the One-Liner comes in. Now, I’m guilty of verbally abusing my pigs on more than one occasion. We’re not talking about those ‘One-liners’.
This one’s for your website, your farmers market booth, your email footer. It’s how you tell folks exactly why your farm exists in a way they’ll actually remember.
Let’s break it down:
✍️ What is a One-Liner?
It’s a simple sentence that answers three things:
- What problem do your customers have?
→ (“I can’t find local, good-tasting meat I trust.”)
- What’s your solution?
→ (“We raise grass-fed beef and pasture-raised poultry right here on our family farm.”)
- What success do they get?
→ (“So you can feel good about the food on your table.”)
Put it all together:
“We raise grass-fed beef and pasture-raised poultry on our family farm, so you can feel good about the food on your table.”
That’s it. No fluff. No jargon. Just clarity.
🚜 Why This Works
People don’t buy the best farm products—they buy the ones they understand the fastest.
Just like you, your customers are busy. If they have to scroll, dig, or guess what you do, they’ll move on.
A clear one-liner gives them a reason to stay, read, and maybe even buy.
And when that one-liner is front and center on your website, you’re turning confusion into connection.
✅ Try This Simple Exercise
Take 5 minutes and write this down:
- What’s the problem your customer faces when buying food?
- What’s your solution (in plain English)?
- What success does your customer experience after buying from you?
Then mash those three into one sentence. Don’t overthink it.
