As we step into the new year, I want to share my resolution for 2025: to be more present in everything I do.

This starts with my family, my number one priority. This year, I’m committed to focusing less on the endless chores and projects—because let’s face it, those will get done regardless—and more on the moments that matter most.

We started this farm as a family, with the goal of building something meaningful together.

But sometimes, in the hustle of projects, deadlines, and striving to grow, I lose sight of that big picture: our family, our kids, and the memories we’re creating together.

I don’t want my kids to look back and remember a dad who was too busy to play or too preoccupied to be there.

I want them to remember a dad who made time to be present, who chose them over the pasture, and who showed them that this farm was something we grew together as a family.

On the other side of being present, I’m also focusing on how I approach work.

Like many of you, I wear a lot of hats: running Longbottom Farm, Homegrown Hosting (a web design service for farms—let me know if you need a website!), working part-time as a PA, and managing my YouTube channel, The Part-Time Farmer.

There are days when I’m juggling two or three things at once, which leads to inefficiency and frustration.

This year, I’m aiming to block out dedicated time for each endeavor, instead of trying to do everything all at once. When I can focus on one thing at a time—whether that’s playing with my kids, designing a website, or filming a YouTube video—I can do it better and more efficiently.

I heard a great quote recently (I think it was from Amy Porterfield or Josh Hall):
“Whatever you’re doing, be present in that thing you’re doing.”

If I’m spending time with family, the computer stays closed. If I’m working on a website, I’ll shut out distractions. It’s not always easy, and I don’t always get it right, but it’s a goal I’m striving for this year.

Finally, I want to say thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’ve subscribed to The Sunday Solopreneur, followed The Part-Time Farmer on YouTube, or simply taken the time to read this email, it means the world to me.

I know you choose to share your valuable time with me, and I consider that a tremendous compliment and responsibility.

My goal is to ensure every moment you spend reading or watching something I create is worthwhile—providing value, actionable insights, and something meaningful in return for your time.

I promise to continue striving to provide value in everything I share—things you can take action on to help your farm and your life.

Here’s to a meaningful and intentional 2025!

with my appreciation,

Jason
